Dipu Moni on 4-day remand in Monir killing case
This news article reports that former Bangladeshi minister Dr. Dipu Moni was placed on a four-day remand by a Dhaka court in connection with the killing of garment scrap trader Md. Monir during the July 2024 mass uprising. Monir was shot and killed on August 5, 2024, while participating in an uprising rally in Chankharpul, Dhaka, and his widow filed the case in March 2025 against 351 named individuals and 500 unnamed others. Dipu Moni, who was originally arrested on August 19, 2024, had requested a 10-day remand by police, but the court granted only four days before returning her to jail.
