ICT orders the army to produce Muzaffar

This news article from The Daily Star (Bangladesh) reports that the International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) has ordered the Bangladesh Army to produce Major (retired) Muzaffar Hossain before the court in connection with a crimes against humanity case. Muzaffar had been arrested by Detective Branch police and transferred to army custody over his alleged involvement in the 1981 assassination of former president Ziaur Rahman, for which he faces a separate military court trial. The main focus of the ICT case, however, concerns Muzaffar's alleged 16-year covert communication and collaboration with Lt. Gen. (retired) Masud Uddin Chowdhury — a key figure in Bangladesh's 2007 army-backed caretaker government and an existing accused in the same crimes against humanity case. Investigators traced Muzaffar through digital forensic analysis, including encrypted WhatsApp/Viber groups and cell tower data linked to a disguised phone profile ("John Doe") connected to a SIM registered fraudulently. The prosecution intends to formally arrest him under the ICT case, seek remand for interrogation, and potentially conduct a face-to-face interrogation with Masud.
