Injured protesters call off demo in front of CA residence

This news article from The Daily Star (dated August 5, 2026) reports that protesters injured during Bangladesh's 2025 mass uprising called off a late-night demonstration in front of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus's residence after receiving verbal assurances from Hasnat Abdullah, central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, that their demands would be addressed. The protesters had breached police barricades near the Intercontinental Hotel in Shahbagh around midnight before being persuaded to disperse around 1:45am. Their core demands included proper medical treatment, rehabilitation, and official state recognition as injured uprising participants, and they indicated they would continue to depend on government action to fulfill those assurances.
