Construction of flats for July uprising victims to start this month
The Bangladeshi government is set to begin constructing residential flats this month (December 2025) for victims of the July 2024 uprising, following approval at an ECNEC meeting. The initiative includes over 800 flats (1,355 sq ft each) for families of those killed and 1,560 flats (1,250 sq ft each) for injured fighters, to be built in Mirpur, Dhaka, with a budget of Tk761 crore and a completion target of 2028-2029. However, the article also highlights concerns from some injured protesters who were excluded from the official beneficiary lists despite sustaining serious disabilities, raising questions about the fairness and completeness of the selection process.
