Govt moves to clear falsely implicated in July uprising cases
The Bangladeshi government has established three oversight committees at the ministry, district, and metropolitan levels to identify and clear individuals who were falsely implicated in criminal cases related to the July–August 2024 mass uprising. These committees, operating under the newly incorporated Section 173A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), are tasked with supervising the submission of interim investigation reports and compiling case lists linked to that period. The committees will report twice monthly, tracking how many individuals were acquitted as a result of the process, and replacing two earlier notifications from December 2024 and May 2025 that previously governed this matter.
