২২ জুলাই নিউজ ক্লিপস – July-36

This document is a comprehensive collection of Bengali and English newspaper clippings from July 22, 2024, compiled by the "Duniya Kapano July" (World-Shaking July) team, covering the Bangladesh quota reform protest crisis at its peak intensity. The clippings span dozens of major publications (Prothom Alo, Daily Star, Dhaka Tribune, Financial Express, and many others) and document three interconnected crises unfolding simultaneously: (1) a nationwide curfew imposed to suppress violent unrest stemming from student-led protests against government job quota systems, with at least 130–174 deaths reported over five days; (2) the Bangladesh Supreme Court's landmark appellate ruling overturning a High Court verdict and setting government job quotas at 7% (down from 56%), with 93% of positions allocated on merit; and (3) severe economic and infrastructure damage, including a nationwide internet blackout, paralyzed trade and ports, prepaid utility meter failures, skyrocketing food prices, and estimated losses of billions of taka daily. Secondary topics covered include mass arrests of BNP and Jamaat opposition leaders, allegations that political parties hijacked the student movement, international reactions (including a US travel warning), damage to metro rail stations and state broadcaster BTV, and growing public demands for government accountability and resignation.
