Nahid: Whole incident involving Tahrima fabricated
This news article reports that Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), declared the entire incident involving Tahrima Jannat Surovi — a participant in Bangladesh's mass uprising known as a "July warrior" — to be false and fabricated. Tahrima had been arrested, granted a two-day remand by a court in connection with allegations of abduction and extortion filed by a journalist, but was subsequently released on bail the same night following student protests and a revision petition. Nahid Islam alleged that vested interests are deliberately targeting individuals who were prominent in the mass uprising ahead of upcoming elections, accusing certain media outlets of attempting to defame them. He urged the public to remain vigilant against efforts to destabilize the country.
