Teacher injured in July uprising passes away after long struggle in Narayanganj

This news article from The Business Standard reports on the death of Gazi Salauddin, a 48-year-old school teacher from Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, Bangladesh, who passed away on October 26, 2025, from injuries sustained during the July 2024 mass uprising. Salauddin had joined the protests in solidarity with students and was critically wounded when police opened fire on demonstrators, with a bullet splinter lodging in his throat and causing the loss of sight in one eye and partial blindness in the other. He survived for over a year in pain and hardship before succumbing to his injuries, having been unable to work as a teacher and relying on a small grocery shop set up with assistance from the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.
